Read ‘Rhiannon’ for Free!

Rhiannon coverI’m eager to get some feedback on my short Medieval romance, ‘Rhiannon.’  Here’s the blurb:

Rhiannon, a Welsh farmer’s daughter, is smuggled into a walled English garrison town.  Harboured by a merchant and his son, her happiness is shattered when her presence in their home is discovered.  Taken to the castle, Rhiannon’s fate lies in the hands of Lord Edward.  Will he believe Rhiannon’s claim that all she wants is to be a lady or will he condemn her to a traitor’s death?

‘Three Romances’ ebook & ‘Kitty’ Spring Bank Holiday Promotion

The collection of the stories, Brizecombe Hall, Kitty and The Hangar Dance, titled, ‘Three Romances‘, is now available in digital format on Amazon.

Spring has finally sprung in the UK and to celebrate the fact the ebook version of Kitty will be free via Amazon’s Kindle Select programme for the last time over the Whitsun weekend, 25-27th May.

The Hangar Dance , which was recently described as a ‘short and sweet story about love, innocence, and loss,’ is still free via Smashwords and their retailers.

Charlotte Bronte Birthday Promotion of ‘Kitty’

CB portraitSomewhat controversially (as Charlotte was no fan of Jane!), I’m marking the birthday of my literary heroine, Charlotte Bronte, with a promotion of a story that’s an homage to another of my literary heroines, Jane Austen:

‘Kitty’ will be free on Amazon on 20th and 21st April.

Easter Update – two free books

Elizabeth Clansham book coverAs we approach Easter here in the UK, the weather is decidedly unseasonal.  The prevailing snow and sub-zero temperatures mean it’s the perfect time to take advantage of a final opportunity to acquire ‘Elizabeth Clansham,’ my novella set in the snowy Scottish Highlands, before it ceases to be free on Smashwords after Easter.  As the anti-hero, Andrew, is given to saying (though, of course, he doesn’t actually adhere to his adage), ‘It’s the things you don’t do in life that you regret,’ so get hold of the book for free while you still can!

Also free on Smashwords at present is my World War II novelette, ‘TheHangar Dance.’

If you read and enjoy either book, I’d be appreciative of ratings, recommendations and reviews anywhere and everywhere.

Happy Easter!

Great Reviews for ‘Kitty’ on Amazon.com

I’m really pleased to have received four great reviews for ‘Kitty,’ my novelette that’s an homage to Jane Austen, on Amazon.com.  The book has also been well received on Goodreads.

What keeps cropping up are comments about writing longer historical romances.  At the moment I love writing short fiction in the genre of historical romance but I seem to have a real block with the concept of attempting a full novel in this genre!

Maybe one day I’ll apply myself to the task – I think it’s just a case of finding the right characters…

Kitty – 200 Years of Pride & Prejudice / Valentine’s Promotion

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt is 200 years since Jane Austen’s novel, Pride & Prejudice, was first published.  To celebrate this fact, my new Regency novelette, Kitty, will be free on Amazon from 10 – 14th February.

If anybody reads & enjoys the book, I would be very appreciative of reviews, recommendations and ratings, on Amazon & elsewhere.

Kitty is also now available in print format, within a collection of three stories, along with Brizecombe Hall and The Hangar Dance.  ‘Three Romances’ is available from Amazon US, UK and Europe.

Kitty – an Homage to Jane Austen

Kitty - book coverFollowing the popularity of ‘Brizecombe Hall,’ I couldn’t resist but pen another homage – this time a work very much in the style of Jane Austen.  ‘Kitty‘ is a fun, short-length Regency romance.  Here’s the blurb:

Kitty Lewis travels with her younger sister, Clara, to join their family for the season in Bath.  Her mother is intent upon finding a husband for their elder sister, Lucinda, and believes she has found the perfect match in Captain James Northwood, a distinguished naval officer.
With time, however, Kitty begins to suspect that her sister’s affection lies elsewhere.  Meanwhile, her own plan, to keep her head firmly fixed in a book and thus avoid all the nonsense going on about her, goes gradually awry…

Christmas 2012-13 Update

Danburgh cover 2bI have various things to report happening over the festive season.  Firstly, I’m running two promotions:

World War II romantic novelette, ‘The Hangar Dance’ will be free on Amazon from 26th – 27th December.

Elizabeth Clansham, my contemporary novella set in the Scottish Highlands, is now free to download from Smashwords.  If you’re looking for a Christmas read, it’s the perfect book as much of the action is set over the holiday period and it’s a compact enough read to complete over the holidays!

I hope you enjoy reading the books if you download them and, as always, will be very appreciative of positive ratings, recommendations and reviews anywhere and everywhere!

Also, over Christmas, I will be publishing Danburgh Castle, Medieval novelette, on Smashwords – see the new wintry cover above!  This has received mixed reviews so far (much more favourable from UK readers than US, in general, interestingly enough) but I think if you like your heroes tall, dark and commanding and your romances short, dark and gothic in tone, it may be a story for you!  Excitingly, Danburgh Castle has recently had its first downloads on Amazon Japan, which I’m really thrilled about!

Lastly, I’ve also been really pleased to discover in recent times that ‘Brizecombe Hall’ continues to attract attention from fans of the Bronte sisters.  It’s currently being read by Swedish-UK blogger, Traxy, as part of her marathon campaign to read all things Jane Eyre-related.  It’s also featured on an Italian Jane Eyre fan-site.

Well, with those global snippets of info., I shall wrap up.  I wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and happy reading over the holidays.

‘The Hangar Dance’ – Thanksgiving Promo on Amazon

ImageHere is advance notice that my novelette, ‘The Hangar Dance’ will be free on Amazon from 21st – 23rd November.  I hope you enjoy reading it if you download it.

(I couldn’t resist the Judy Garland pic when I discovered that the film, ‘Meet Me In St Louis’ was released on Thanksgiving weekend in November 1944 – and this is a great WWII-era image!)
